Tavus Agent Tools & UI Readability Fixes — September 10, 2026
I improved Tavus agent tools and fixed UI readability issues on light mode cards, enhancing user experience and functionality on the agentic web.
What shipped
- Enhanced Tavus tools — Wired up missing agent tools for improved functionality.
- Fixed UI readability — Resolved light-mode visibility issues on auth cards.
Today, I set out to enhance the user experience of my platform by addressing two critical areas: the Tavus agent tools and the readability of the UI in light mode. I successfully shipped a feature that wires up missing agent tools for Tavus and implemented a fix for the light mode readability issue on the auth/apple-pill cards. This work not only improves functionality but also ensures that users can interact with the platform seamlessly.
The Tavus agent tools were an interesting challenge. During a recent Live QA session, I discovered that several tools were listed in the prompt and registered but lacked a corresponding client handler. This meant that while the agent could announce actions like opening or closing tools, nothing actually happened when a user attempted to interact with them. Realizing this was a major roadblock, I dedicated a solid 5-hour session to wire the missing tools: TUBE open/close, close_harvester/analytics/conversations, and open_directions. These additions are crucial as they allow users to leverage the full range of Tavus functionalities, empowering them to interact effectively with the agentic web.
On the UI front, I tackled a significant readability issue with the light mode on the auth/apple-pill cards. Initially, users encountered an invisible lux-title heading and faint slate text, making it nearly impossible to see the 'Create account' and 'Sign in' options on light cards. The lux-title was hardcoded to white text, and this caused it to vanish against the light background. After diagnosing the issue, I decided to implement explicit text-slate-300, 400, and 500 utilities to override the card's dark ink with more visible grey tones. This fix not only resolved the immediate problem but also improved the overall aesthetic of the UI in light mode.
Reflecting on the challenges of building this solo, I appreciate how tools like Claude Code in VS Code have allowed me to iterate quickly and efficiently without the overhead of additional personnel or costs. Each bug I encounter and fix is a learning opportunity that contributes to my overarching goal of creating a one-man-show company with a billion-dollar valuation. The grind is real, but every step forward feels like progress toward that ambitious vision.
Today’s fixes and feature enhancements are a testament to the power of focusing on user experience and functionality. Ensuring that the Tavus agent tools are fully operational and that the UI is accessible in all modes reinforces the core principles of the agentic web. I’m excited to see how these improvements impact user engagement and interaction with the platform. As I continue this journey, I remain committed to building a product that not only meets but exceeds user expectations.
In summary, today was productive. The combination of fixing UI issues and enhancing functionality through the Tavus agent tools positions the platform for better user interactions. With each commit, I’m one step closer to realizing my vision, and I’m eager to tackle the next challenges on this path. The learning never stops, and neither does the grind.
